Initial examination is carried out by a dentist specializing in orofacial disorders. Biometric and behavioral testing are available as support services. Other testing is available based on specific needs, including surface electro-myography and mandibular function analysis. Depending on the findings, patients may be referred for further workup by clinic faculty or by an outside specialist.

What to Expect

The initial examination takes approximately one hour. Please allow adequate time. Patients should bring:

1.  Pertinent medical or dental records.
2.  Completed questionnaire concerning patient problems
3.  All necessary insurance information

Financial Policy

The initial examination fee is $400.00 and is paid at the initial appointment. Please allow 1 1/2 hours for this evaluation. There are separate charges for additional faculty evaluations or diagnostic services which may be required. Treatment fees are discussed prior to therapy. Payments are made at the time of each clinic visit. Checks and major credit cards are accepted. Staff will be happy to help with patient insurance forms.

We recommend public transportation, as street parking is very limited. If you chose to drive, please allow yourself plenty of time to find parking. Parking garages are available for a fee on Webster Street and Clay Street near the California Pacific Medical Center.

Take BART to Embarcadero Station. Exit BART near the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Walk 11/2 blocks to the MUNI bus stop at Sacramento and Drumm Streets. Take the 1 California bus line to the corner of Sacramento and Webster Streets.

Traveling by Car

From the East Bay:
From the Bay Bridge, take the 9th Street/Civic Center exit. Go straight, through the signal onto Harrison Street. Turn right on 9th Street. Continue on 9th Street. Cross Market Street and bear left onto Hayes Street. Turn right onto Franklin Street. Continue on Franklin and turn left onto Sacramento Street. Continue 5 blocks to Webster Street.

From the Peninsula:
From Hwy.101, take the 9th Street/Civic Center exit and bear left onto 9th Street. Continue on 9th Street. Cross Market Street and bear left onto Hayes Street. Turn right onto Franklin Street. Continue on Franklin and turn left onto Sacramento Street. Continue 5 blocks to Webster Street.

From Marin County:
Take Hwy.101 South, cross Golden Gate Bridge and take the Lombard Street exit. Continue on Lombard (East). Turn right on Webster Street, and proceed 11 blocks up the hill to the corner of Webster and Sacramento Streets.

The dental school is accessible by wheelchair.
